Third Grade Full Year Bible Curriculum

$309.00

In Third Grade, children move from simpler picture Bibles to a regular Bible written at a third grade level (which is used through sixth grade). Thus, the first lessons are on how to use a Bible and how the Bible is organized. To make looking up verses easier, they memorize the books of the Bible through rhythm and song.

Studies are a little more in depth and include the lives of Gideon, Daniel, and Paul. Another area of study are the names of God (or five of them!). Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter lessons are also included.

Children also learn about  Lottie Moon, Brother Andrew (who smuggled Bibles into Communist countries), and Harriet Tubman. These lessons help children see how the Biblical truths that were true for early Christians are also true for us.

Some of the major ideas that run through the year:   Why we learn about the Bible, what the word of God does for us, what believing and doing God’s word does, why God’s plan is best, what courage is, what it means to respect the Lord, and what happens when I do respect the Lord.

Though each lesson is not dependent on another, each quarter’s lessons fit together, as do the four quarters of a year.

As you use the curriculum, you will find many opportunities for the children to practice the Bible Truths and memory verses, and plenty of repetition accomplished through a variety of age-appropriate activities/methods.

For the Third Grade lessons, we encourage you, if at all possible, to provide enough copies of the International Children’s Bible® so that each child (or at least two or three sharing a book) may follow along as you read the lesson. While other versions of the Bible may be used, the Bible Training lessons use mainly the International Children’s Bible®.

NOTE:  This curriculum is suitable for children up through sixth grade.
