From Trial and Error
In 1993, Kathy Thompson took over the management of her church’s nursery. The children, ages 0 to 3, were all in the same small room. Children were walking on children. She decided to start a class for two-year-olds. They were old enough to learn, there was an empty room, and it would get them out of the nursery. After trying several curriculums, liking parts of each, she decided to write her own lessons. It seemed to work well. She became a part of the children’s ministry team. One day, she and the director were talking about what curriculum they should use for the rest of the Sunday School. Kathy said, “Why don’t we write our own?” And that is how she began writing.
