Second Grade Full Year Bible Curriculum
In Second Grade, children learn about the early church, from the book of Acts. They revisit Jesus’ death, resurrection, and ascension as well as some of Jesus’ actions while He was still here on earth. The main theme that runs through the year is prayer. Through the Scriptures, children see others praying, learn that Jesus wants to spend time with each of them and that one of the most important things we can do is spend some time alone with Jesus every day.
Other subjects taught throughout the curriculum include service to others and obedience to God. Though each lesson is not dependent on another, each quarter’s lessons fit together, as do the four quarters of a year.
As you use the curriculum, you will find many opportunities for the children to practice the Bible Truths and memory verses, and plenty of repetition accomplished through a variety of age-appropriate activities/methods.
For the Second Grade lessons, we encourage you, if at all possible, to provide enough copies of Condensed Bible Stories for Primaries so that each child (or at least two or three sharing a book) may follow along as you read the lesson.
The Second Grade curriculum is also suitable for first graders.
