First Grade Full Year Bible Curriculum
In First Grade, from the lessons about Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, Esau and Jacob, Joseph and his dreams and how he saves his family, children become familiar with the truth that God has a special plan for each of us and that, as we obey Him, God is able to bring it to pass, that He will always be with us to help us, and that God even takes the bad things that happen to us and uses them for good for those who love Him. They also learn that part of God’s plan is serving others. Both Christmas and Easter are included subjects, with children hearing about Jesus’ ascension and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Children meet Solomon, Elijah and Elisha.
Though each lesson is not dependent on another, each quarter’s lessons fit together, as do the four quarters of a year.
As you use the curriculum, you will find many opportunities for the children to practice the Bible Truths and memory verses, and plenty of repetition accomplished through a variety of age-appropriate activities/methods.
For the First Grade lessons, we encourage you, if at all possible, to provide enough copies of The Beginner's Bible® so that each child (or at least two or three sharing a book) may follow along as you read the lesson.
The First Grade curriculum is also suitable for second graders.
